What kind of a computer should I bring to campus?

The university does not recommend any brand or model of desktop or laptop.  However, there are minimum requirments that your computer should meet.

For Windows, Linux and Unix users:

  • Pentium Class PC
  • MS Windows 2000 or later
  • At least 64 MB of RAM
  • Compatible Network Interface Card (NIC)

For Apple Macintosh users:

  • PowerPC Macintosh
  • MacOS 8.1 or later
  • At least 64 MB of RAM
  • Compatible Network Interface Card
